Dutch producer/DJ Phynn, in real life known as Finne Jager, was born on the 6th of December 1984 in Nieuwegein, The Netherlands. His passion for music started at a young age, as he learned to play several instruments back in his early years; an experience he still profits from in his current productions.
Phynn’s participation in a remix contest in 2002 paved the path for an ever growing list of superb records. He presented himself to the world in 2004 with his debut release “Escape” - a collaboration with Fictivision - on the mighty In Trance We Trust imprint, a label owned by Tiësto’s record company Black Hole Recordings.
Phynn's next record “Exotica”, a nine-minute euphoric epic, marked Phynn’s first true single release on In Trance We Trust. Phynn was embraced by Black Hole Recordings and was exclusively signed to their label.
After the release of Escape and Exotica, Phynn demonstrated his absolutele ability to produce massive big room anthems. "Lucid" (2005) was heavily played on the radio, and featured by the likes of Tiësto during his In Concert events. Lucid found its way onto Tiësto's In Concert DVD registration and was signed to many compilations worldwide. It became a record that hardly left any DJ's record case in 2005, while fans and criticasters celebrated the absolute majesty of the song.
“Close Encounter” and its B-side track, the orchestral “Tempest”, showcased once again Phynn’s musical background and capability of playing many instruments. The use of larger-than-life epic melodies and riffs turned into a true Phynn trademark. His high caliber releases as well as his remix for Tiësto’s “Adagio For Strings” resulted in firm recognition from fans all over the globe. Phynn and his productions could now count on the support of the world’s leading DJ’s such as Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules and Tiësto.
In 2006, UK's Mixmag magazine labeled Phynn as "Future Hero", which immediately placed him in the spotlight of the entire dance industry. The Future Hero stigma got fulfilled when Phynn obtained a Main Stage spot at the world’s most prestigious trance event ‘Trance Energy’ in 2007. The twenty-five thousand people in the audience loved his performance so much that ID&T didn’t hesitate to feature Phynn again the next year, making him one of the few DJ’s who has perfomed at Trance Energy two years in a row.
Phynn became one of the happy few who had the honor to compile and mix one of the In Trance We Trust compilations, proving that Phynn is not only a skilled knob tweaker in the studio but an experienced DJ as well. His ability to put two records seamlessly together didn’t go by unnoticed. Phynn featured on high profile events and festivals such as Godskitchen’s Sundance Festival, ID&T’s Tomorrowland festival and Trance Energy event, the Magik Muzik Night in Amsterdam, Revolution in Poland and the Inside Out event in Scotland.
In his young career, Phynn had the chance to play to thousands of clubbers worldwide alongside established DJ’s like Tiësto, Paul Oakenfold, Deep Dish, Ferry Corsten, Mauro Picotto and Johan Gielen.
In 2007, Phynn proceeded his journey with a slight change genre-wise. His songs "C U Smile" and "Starfire At Night", featuring vocals by singer/songwriter Alexander Perls, were given a more electro sound compared to his previous work.
In November 2008, Phynn saw the birth of his first record album "Metamorphosis" on the 8th of November. Not limited to any musical boundaries or pigeonholes, Phynn shows the evolution of his productions over the years during a twelve track epic journey on “Metamorphosis”. Whether it’s the uplifting euphoria of “Lucid”, the electro influences on the opening track “Sunset City” and “C U Smile”, the Balearic “Musa Bella”, the addictive vocal trance of “Try Again” featuring UK vocalist Tiff Lacey or the atmospheric down-tempo track “No More Mistakes”, Metamorphosis became an album of outstanding quality and great diversity. An album hailed by global music lovers as an album filed under the “E” for Essential.
In 2009, Phynn shifted back to his trademark uplifting trance sound and released 'Spacewalk' on Black Hole Recordings. The song was an instant hit, and DJ's like Markus Schulz kept playing the record for months after its initial release. Keeping the momentum, Phynn followed up in 2010 with 'Hello Love' featuring Antonia from Jets Overhead. Again, the song was a huge success, leading Ferry Corsten to include it on his Once Upon A Night mix compilation.
As a result of the success of Spacewalk and Hello Love, world-famous DJ Markus Schulz approached Phynn in 2010 to do remixes for Coldharbour Recordings. Phynn's remixes for Coldharbour Recordings became a huge success. Releasing remixes for 'Mike Foyle pres. Statica - Deadly Nightshade', 'Rex Mundi - Opera of Northern Ocean', 'Hammer & Bennet - Language' and 'Markus Schulz - Rain' instantly put Phynn back at the top of the uplifting trance scene.
Phynn remixes are in high demand and record labels are lining up to get Phynn to add his 'golden touch' to their newest releases.
